Aaaaah The Big question.......
I have ran a 12t driver and found good fortune with it, but recently I have been using an 11t and have gotten better results. I think as the weather gets hotter the 12t works better. Just my observation from racing JSY the past 2.5 years there. 11t-71 (+/- 1t) will get you in the hunt, depending on the config that Mike decides to run.
If I remember, OVKA runs the short track there at NCMP (no horseshoe or maza turn). Basically a wide-open course and fairly simple.
KRA races the next day (Sunday after the OVKA Saturday race) and has 2 classes for the JSY driver (double the track time and fun). They also have a large field of 20+ on average each race day. But keep in mind that they run 2 prac sessions, and then qualify then a final. See the KRA race day schedule http://www.newcastleraceway.com/racedayschedule.pdf _________________ Doug Stempfley II

Steve,
What is a good range for the Cadet gearing?
Also, What is the difference between a 12t and 11t if you run the same ratio gearing?
Ex. 11 X 77 vs. 12 X 84 both are 7.00 ratio
I know there has to be a reason but I don't know it.
Thanks,
Mike |

Mike,
I think you can't change Comer engine's driver but I am not sure.
I thought it was WKA's rule. (Please check)
We ran with between 72 to 75 but you might want to ask Rob or Drew about this. They both have Novoso chassis. _________________ I am Toshiya and I approve this message. |

Diff between 11t & 12t and staying with the same ratio is basically from what I found is it's a power issue. You need to test it with your engine & kart. _________________ Doug Stempfley II

Toshiya,
You are correct about the Comer K80.
I should be more specific.
What I meant to ask was:
What gearing range for Newcastle for the Comer K80?
My 2nd question is for the Yamaha SC where you are allowed to change drivers.
My specific question is this:
I am running a 10tooth engine driver with a range of rear axle sprockets of 80 to 87.
If I change to a 11tooth driver for Newcastle and need to run a 7.10 ratio then I would need to run a 78 sprocket which I don't have.
If I change to a 12 tooth driver and need to run a 7.10 ration then I could run a 85 sprocket which I do have.
Which is the better set up and why?
From what I have read most folks run the 11 tooth driver setup.
Why not a 12 tooth driver ? Is there a power disadvantage?
Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

| 7.0 ratio is 7.0 ratio,,,no matter how you get there. It shouldn't matter what combination you use to get it, it is still the same final output. Last year we went up 1 tooth on the front driver, and we were fine on the rookie, and the super can...not sure about the comer though. |
