Is drafting effective in karting? If so, is it effective at Camden? I just am wondering if you get two decent drivers could you turn out even faster times? Or in race conditions, would you be able to gain ground on a faster driver? Just a random question, but still helpful to know.

If you are talking w/ Gerald, ask Francis about Jacksonville. I walked that track in April and understand what he said that "Nobody wanted to be 1st in the last lap as they would always get passed due to drafting." I think this can happen at New Castle also. _________________ Eric Bradford #53 Masters Yamaha (Mid-Pack Club Racer at best) If... |

From the people I've spoken with, drafting is pretty insignificant at Camden, but you can run about a tenth or so quicker behind someone of comparable speed.
I've noticed that I gain about a tenth of a second down the backstraight at Camden when I draft someone down it.
Speaking to Gerald the other day, the draft is a big factor at New Castle. If you fall off the tail of the lead group, driving by yourself you can't catch up until someone comes and drafts with you.

very little drafting (if any at all) at G&J.
NCMP yes drafting is a major factor in the race strategy. _________________ Doug Stempfley II

That is why I'd like to run NCMP backward with hoseshoe. _________________ I am Toshiya and I approve this message. |

You ar right T, the backwards track makes it a drivers track and not a HP track w/ drafting. _________________ Doug Stempfley II

Eric,
You didn't take your kart to Jacksonville?
You should have practiced there at least. _________________ I am Toshiya and I approve this message. |

Toshiya- No, It was a family vacation. Also, I dont think the neighborhood we were staying in could handle my "Funky" trailer. (It was rather Elite).
Plus ,I get enough comments about "Dad's going karting again?" _________________ Eric Bradford #53 Masters Yamaha (Mid-Pack Club Racer at best) If... |

So, theres not much of a draft at Camden. Oh well. Ive watched those stars of karting shows on the speed channel, they always babble about the draft there. Its kinda neat though watchin three or so karts bag the leader down the straightaway. Well, in NCMP's case, looks like Ill need to find some drafting buddies .

Scott, come out this weekend at NCMP.
KRA (the club at New Castle) has their club race this Sunday.
The have some very large classes.
And you will get a chance to run down the big strait and feel the draft.
We will be there! _________________ Doug Stempfley II

That sounds like fun, but I dont think I have enough experience for that kind of thing. Especially with large classes. I get pushed around enough already in Super Can. Anyway, good luck to ya!
