The "Local Club" has a rule about ties for first place, and maybe other places as well.
If you are cuaght in a tie for points lap times determine the winner.
I propoesd this rule a few years ago when we first started with the AMB transponders. Just so you know.
At the time it seemed like a good idea, at the time. Now with longer straigts and drafting a real issue, the question to you all is, "should we keep the rule for next year?" _________________ Jean Stafford

John,
Used to break ties by the winner of the third heat. Idea was, if you finished in frontr of the tied person, you won.
Now with drafting, it's possible to turn faster laps behind someone than if you're in front.
Which is the stronger position, one third, and tweo firsts, or one first and two second place finishes?
I realize that ties need to be broken. What is the fairest way? _________________ Jean Stafford

Jean looks like your in the minority on this one.
The alternative which is what just about every other racing venue and and racing org does, is the winner of the feature actually wins.
What a novel idea!

Just for your information, we used to use what was called a "Motocross" point system, where ethe winner of each race was awarded 400 points for first, 300 for second, 225 for third and lesser amounts as you went farther back in \the pack.
With this system there was much fewer ties. Don't really know why the change was made, unless there are no more math whizzes.
Pat I have always thought the third race was the "Feature" Don't like two races! Much prefer three. And, just in casse you didn't read the first postr, It was I that suggested this rule in the first place. _________________ Jean Stafford
