What do you use to clean the head and piston?
Do you use some type of solvent like brake cleaner and scrub them or what?
Any other special advise when doing this procedure?
Thanks,

Mike,
I remove the sylinder to prevent debris from getting into the ring groove. I soak the head in carb cleaner from Safety-Kleen and use Scoth-Brite red pad to polish the sticky stuff out. After that, it's just a matter of keeping the stuff out of the engine by using towels, or rags in the case to keep it clean.
After removing the carbon, blow out the ring land, and lube the piston and ring assy before re-installing.
If you keep things clean there should be no problem. _________________ Jean Stafford

Jean,
I guess this applies to all engines??
I am asking specifically about a Comer K80.

Just cleaned all of my engines,,,and found problems on 2 of my motors.
Thank god for Yellow Fin being so close that I ran them over and will have them ready for the race this weekend.
Thanks Francis and Gerald.
Let me see that happen with another engine builder. |

May be those are the "SPEED SECRETS".
You must don't have an air filter in your RLV air box. (Not a Freeline Blue one ) _________________ I am Toshiya and I approve this message. |
