In my opnion TAG has too many engines, weights and rules. It is really big in some areas but I can also see it implode if they dont get a grip on the rules and engine proliferation. Just my opinion, not a big fan of TAG yet.

It is a bit confusing, with several brands of engines, then different restrictions for each type if I understand it correctly...
Need to go to one engine, then modify according to what class you want run, kinda how Yamaha is done.. _________________ .

Pat/Ray,
I don't think the class as too many engines. Because in all honest, you really just have the Leopard, Sonik, Vortex Rok TT and Rotax. Here in Florida, Rotax is big for the Winter Tour. The Sonik keeps on getting smaller and smaller in numbers.
The problem in all honesty it was suppose to be a CLUB level class that has got elevated to a NATIONAL class.
You have rules that are different for each series.
WKA has rules
TAGUSA has rules
Stars has rules
IKF has rules.
For instance, TAGUSA only allows one base gasket for the Leopard. WKA allows more.
Stars changed a lot on the Rok TT before Ocala. TAGUSA didn't change anything, just ADDED 30lbs over the weekend. WKA has their own rules for the TT.
And Ray the idea of TAG about 5 years ago or so when it started was that the class could be made even with weight difference, which would also allow heavier drivers to compete more. It was suppose to be that the driver would pick an engine that fit his weight.

For as long as I have been involved with the sport multiple engine classes have NEVER worked.
Early 60's A, B and C Classes. A was 6" engines, B over 8 and C multiple engines.
70's found the Stock class with McCulloch and IAME's Komet. Rule was less than $100, the later less than $125.
Later 70's American Reed valve engines grew quickly and was a strong class, then LMR's showed up. Designed by IAME and built by Margay, they were basically a rotary valve engine with reeds in the cases.
Yamaha shows up in the mid 70's and starts out poorly due to a lack of low-end torque. a fact soon changed by BURCO Mfg.
From the beginning, multiple engine classes have failed, unless they grew into a engine specific class, like Yamaha. When the "Local Club" first began discussing TaG class about 5-6 years ago, there was a movement to sell Leopards by a single Kart shop that was the moving force. As a result the Yamaha Heavy class was dessimates as modt turned to Leopards. After one season of racing ALL who negan the TaG class have left or moved back to Yamaha Heavy.
Many individuals who were in attendance where the formation of a TaG class was discussed, voiced these concerns to no avail. Now the National Organization is feeling the same things that were discussed during that meeting. Engines that fo NOT remain constant in performance; suitcase motors that show up for the "Factory" drivers; High maintenance cost due to high cost replacement parts; and a constantly moving rules structure. the only engine to become popular is the Rotax, a SEALED motor.
